Pringles
“How
many times have you been eating white chocolate and peppermints and you think
to yourself ‘I wish I also had a potato in my mouth,’” (DeGeneres)? Well, stop
wishing because your dreams have finally become a reality. The Kellogg company-
the company whose vision and purpose it is to “seek to create meaningful
connections – to improve the lives of the people we touch every day,”
(Kellogg), has invented something unique that has shocked millions of people
around the world. People never thought that something like this would ever be
created. So when it finally was they were in complete shock and disbelief.
Earlier this year, Pringles announced that in November 2012, three
limited-edition holiday flavored Pringles would be available in stores across
the country. The three incomparable and
irreplaceable Pringle flavors that the world has been dreaming of are White
Chocolate Peppermint, Cinnamon & Sugar, and Pumpkin Pie Spice.
Why
were these flavors even created in the first place? That is the question that
millions of people around the world are asking. These three limited- edition
holiday flavors are so unique and out of the ordinary that it is only normal to
wonder who is the mastermind behind these inventive flavors. Who is the
mastermind that decided to combine white chocolate and peppermint with a chip?
In response to its distinctiveness, Ellen DeGeneres has an interesting take on
who she thinks is the mastermind behind this invention saying, “Is there a
Pringle’s lab somewhere full of Pringle scientists and are they pregnant
women,” (DeGeneres)? Although these flavors may be a weird and shocking to
some, it is could be construe as a positive thing to be different. People get
bored with constantly seeing the same things over and over again. Whoever the
mastermind behind these flavors is, he or she definitely took a risk by
inventing these new limited- edition flavors. Furthermore, the mastermind who
created these flavors was inventive in yet another way. Instead of using
natural flavoring, these new holiday flavors are artificially flavored. People
might have been scared away by the uniqueness of the flavors, but when they see
that the chips are artificially flavored they may decide to take the risk and
try them. After all, a majority of the most popular snacks manufactured in the
world today are artificially flavored.
After
taking a chip out of the tube, feeling that mouth-watering sensation, and then
ultimately eating that chip one can understand that its ingredients are unique.
From the start of its production one can see that Pringles were not made to be
like other “potato” chips. The shape, taste and packaging of Pringles are just
few characteristics that set this product apart from all other chips. The
ingredients are unlike normal potato chips. Pringles are not made from sliced
potatoes. They are made from a slurry of wheat, rice, corn, and potato flakes,
which are turned into dough, that is shaped into Pringle shaped chips, and finally
fried, (Guacciardi). Seriously, who needs potato chips made out of potatoes? Pringles
are truly chips of their own, incomparable to any other potato chip on the
market today. In order to avoid paying taxes, the Pringles Company even argued
that because of Pringles’ low potato content, Pringles are technically not even
potato chips. What other potato chip company can make this claim? Pringles are
potato chips, yet their sole content is not potato. Instead, their sole content
is made of highly processed ingredients, (Guacciardi).
The
most exceptional feature about Pringles is their taste. When you grab a Pringle
after squeezing your hand down the brilliantly designed extremely narrow
Pringles tube, stick a chip between your lips and slowly crunch down with your
teeth, you immediately taste salt. If you are ever in the mood for salt, you
can definitely trust Pringles to never let you down. In fact, the creative
process behind Pringles is so unusual in that there are over one hundred
different Pringle flavors. Now with the new holiday limited-edition flavors,
there are three more. However, no matter the flavor, every Pringle chip generally
tastes like an overload of salt. It is a total genius creation. Take a Cinnamon
and Sugar flavored Pringle, for instance. At first, your taste buds receive a
quick two seconds of the sweet sugar taste, and then the salt immediately hits
you. This classic Pringle flavor will never disappoint to overtake your taste
buds. The delicious and unique salt flavor will overwhelm your saliva and
always leave you wanting more. As Josh Modell writes, “It’s just that their
flavors hit soft and quick, quickly diminishing into plain ol’ Pringle-dom. You
might just barely noticed they even had flavor on them, especially if you were
drunk” (Modell).
Thanks
to the Pringles Company and Kellogg, people all around the world have been
introduced to three new limited-edition holiday Pringles flavors. People are
now privileged enough to enjoy the mouthwatering and scrumptious taste of these
new flavors as well as all the other different Pringles flavors. Millions of
people are appreciative and thankful to the person who came up with the idea to
combine white chocolate and peppermint with a Pringle chip. This idea is quite
shocking, but very appetizing and appealing to people’s preferences in ‘potato’
chip flavors. After the Pringles Company’s release of these new exotic flavors,
there is no way to know what other flavors they will come up with next. How
about tuna fish spinach flavor for the next new Pringle creation?
