I’m Luvin’ It

“The
greatest wealth is health.” (Virgil) Health is a crucial part for living a long
live. Everyone must work as hard as they can to maintain a healthy body. One
way this can be done is by eating the right foods. Different foods contribute
different factors that can benefit our body.
Many
restaurants offer a variety of foods that can help us lead a long, healthy
life. McDonald’s is one of many restaurants that sells fast food which is
refreshing and nutritious in so many ways. Let’s take the Big Mac. This
hamburger, along with all other items on the McDonald’s menu, only costs a few
dollars. (They even have a one dollar menu!) Many other healthy foods make an
undesirable hole in our wallets. The Big Mac is made with 100% pure beef. Pure
beef is an excellent source for high quality protein and contains many
nutrients, including iron and zinc. In an article called “Why Not Eat Beef” by
Tricia McMillan it’s stated, “If you
choose the right cuts of beef and prepare them correctly, they can be a
healthy, if occasional, part of your diet.” There is no doubt that McDonald’s chooses the
healthiest part of the cow and prepares it in the healthiest way possible. The
Big Mac also contains many healthy vegetables like shredded lettuce, pickle
slices, and onions. Vegetables protect against cancers and provide a delicious
low calorie intake. A customer is even able to request an extra pickle or slice
of lettuce! On pissedcunsumer.com, Anonymous posted about how thrilled he was
when McDonald’s gave him an extra pickle on his Big Mac for only 40 cents! He
even suggested that McDonald’s start charging extra for adding salt to the
French fries! He understands that the economy is going through a rough patch
and that “Old Ronald McDonald must be worried about his 401K.” (pissedconsumer.com)
Overall, by McDonald’s exposing the nation to these nutritious foods, our
bodies can grow properly and be maintained correctly.
Another
great part about eating at McDonald’s and all other fast food restaurants is
that they offer a great deal of oil in almost all of their foods. This oil
helps our bodies in so many ways. It keeps our skin moisturized by opening up
the pores, resulting in younger and healthier looking skin. Furthermore, the
variety of fried items on the menu all contain 0g of trans fat! Trans fat can
increase a person’s cholesterol level and the chances of getting heart
diseases. Its’ good to know that McDonald’s is looking out for us, making sure
we won’t have a heart attack anytime soon! McDonald’s is also endorsed by a
number of high profile celebrities, whose careers depend on staying healthy and
looking good. Beyoncé Knowles, a famous singer, said, “The great thing about
McDonald’s is that they have a lot of different things on the menu.” Even James
Franco, a prolific actor, said, “I worked the drive-through at McDonald’s and
tried out different accents- Italian, Russian, Irish.” It is obvious that James
Franco and Beyoncé Knowles are fans of McDonald’s—further proof that everyone
should consume this healthful and delicious food.
Furthermore,
McDonald’s caters to the whole family! Parents of young children know how
difficult it is to find a restaurant where their kids will actually eat the
food. I mean let’s face it, most parents don’t have the time to cook and
McDonald’s tolerates all children, even providing a playground to let off their
energy. At McDonald’s, parents can order a variety of healthy choices such as
the Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese or the Angus Bacon & Cheese. Additionally,
Children can order special kids meals that even come with toys! A very popular
item for kids all over the world is Chicken McNuggets. McDonald’s Chicken
McNuggets are made with a delicious chemical called TBHQ, which is an active
ingredient in perfumes, causing children to give off a pleasant smell!
McDonald’s is successfully getting children hooked and addicted to their
healthy food from a young age!
All
McDonald’s locations offer the customer the opportunity to enter the store,
stand on line, and order food. Customers are even able to walk to a table and
seat themselves. McDonald’s offers better exercise than a sit-down restaurant
where the waiter does all the work, preventing healthy habits. The average
person has a McDonald’s within a five-minute radius of their house! Most
McDonald’s locations do not deliver, giving the consumers the chance to jog
over there and burn off the small amount of calories they are about to intake.
When customers get to a McDonald’s and fulfill these small, but healthy habits,
McDonald’s is helping decrease both childhood obesity and the 60 million adults
in America
suffering from obesity.
I don’t
understand why the U.S has started this conspiracy rejecting the greatness of
fast food and small, family-owned companies like McDonald’s. By supporting
McDonald’s, we are encouraging all small companies all over the world to go out
and pursue their dream. All McDonald’s food is reasonably priced, catering to
the lower class and the upper class alike. People claim that fast food is one
of the top reasons for the death of so many Americans. This is the total
opposite of the truth. In a Documentary film called, “Super Size Me,” Morgan
Spurlock takes it upon himself to only eat fast food for thirty days. He ate
three meals per day provided by McDonald’s and by the end of his little
experiment, he had enjoyed each item on the menu at least once, if not more.
Although many people claimed he would die, he survived! He did put on a little
extra weight that people were claiming was because of the fast food, but there
is no proof that the McDonald’s was the reason. For arguments sake, even if it
did make him gain weight, it’s actually a good thing. If there is ever a shortage
of food, similar to the recent shortage of gas, those so-called “overweight”
Americans can survive off their excess body fat until more food is made
available. Take a look at Santa Clause, he is overweight and children all over
the world look up to him! He encourages kids to eat delicious home baked
cookies and whole milk which contain similar health benefits to items on the
McDonald’s menu.
In addition
to McDonald’s’ convenience, great prices, and health advantages, McDonald’s
also supplies a countless amount of jobs. McDonald’s offers about one million
jobs worldwide. A majority of the workers are under 21 and McDonald’s pays them
at least minimum wage, helping them pay off their college loans. It’s hard to
imagine what kind of havoc would be let loose in the world if McDonald’s didn’t
exist. Health is a concern for people everywhere and McDonald’s helps eliminate
that concern, providing healthy, affordable, and delicious food. Just
remember—McDonald’s: “i’m lovin’ it.”
